Sustainable development has become a major societal concerns. It includes not only the preservation of the environment but also sustainable growth.
Surpassing oneself as part of a competition or a sporting event must now be in line with this concept.
The Worldgreen Sports label is attributed annually to sports institutions and sporting events that as part of their activity take action for the environment.
This label aims to promote creativity and innovation in organizing events and thereby spreading best practices based on sustainable development.
A large range of evaluation criteria are used to validate the good eco-friendly practices in place in the organization, promotion, distribution of a sporting event.
Finally, it helps to promote a positive image of the organizers and its event to the public, media, partners, participants ...


To get this label, improvements from one year to another must be concrete and concern at least two indicators of the following families:

Climate change

- Emission of Greenhouse effect gases
- Emission of Substances that deplete the Ozone Layer
- Emission of Gases contributing to acidification
- Average energy consumption linked with the automotive, air or sea transport

The safety, training and certification: the risks of accidents control

- Safety training
- Compliance with the social law rules (child labor ,...)
- Exposure of employees, athletes and spectators
- consciousness raising effort of sub-contractors, participants and partners
- Policy to promote or support the development of territories.

The control of resources

- Toxic or metal load index
- Index of biodegradability of waste
- Total quantity of waste or hazardous waste
- Use rate of recycled materials
- Impacts on biodiversity: to limit damage to the biological balance, natural environments, protected animal and plant specie
- Expenses incurred to prevent the consequences of the activity on the environment.

Indicators can be of different types:

- Process indicators: such as the number of checks
- Results indicators: for example the data list collected as a percentage
- Performance indicators: Designed to measure progress
- Indicators of customer satisfaction that seek to measure their satisfaction rate.
