Six athletes with disabilities and fifteen leaders have embarked on the crossing of the Vercors in off road wheelchair. They were off to discover the Nature Reserve of the Hauts Plateaux of the region.
An expedition in the Vercors with equipment for the disabled "engine." This was organized jointly by the "Comité Handisport Isère" (CHI) and the "Vercors Handisport" club (VHS) on July 11 and 12. A first attempt was made in 2008 with a reduced number of participants.
The 2009 edition included two stages of 25 km each on a course softened a bit compared to last year. Three kinds of material were used. The all-terrain electric wheelchair type "ladybug" is equipped with four-wheel drive and a 7 hours autonomy thanks to 5 batteries. The all-terrain manual wheelchair requires, however, the assistance of two good riders at least to pull on the flat or rising. Finally, the "Mountain Board" is propelled solely using two ski poles. It is restricted to competitors skiing high level. Note that Vincent Boury Paralympic champion of table tennis, and Georges Bettega, winner of the World Cup Nordic skiing in 2009, came to support participants.
Six sportifs handicapés et une quinzaine d’accompagnateurs se sont lancés dans la traversée du Vercors en FTT électrique. Ils sont partis à la découverte de la Réserve Naturelle des Hauts Plateaux de la région.
Une expédition dans le Vercors avec du matériel adapté aux handicapés "moteur". C’est ce qu’ont organisé conjointement le Comité Handisport Isère (CHI) et le club "Vercors Handisport" (VHS) les 11 et 12 juillet dernier. En 2008, une première a été tentée avec un nombre réduit de participants.
L’édition 2009 a comporté deux étapes de 25 kilomètres chacune sur un parcours un peu adouci par rapport à l’année dernière. Trois sortes de matériel ont été utilisés. Le fauteuil tout terrain électrique type "coccinelle" est doté de quatre roues motrices et une autonomie d’environ 7 heures grâce à 5 batteries. Le fauteuil tout terrain manuel nécessite, quant à lui, l’assistance d’au moins deux bons vététistes pour tracter sur les parties plates ou montantes. Enfin, le "Mountain Board" est propulsé à la seule aide de deux bâtons de ski. Il est réservé aux compétiteurs ski nordique de haut niveau. A noter que Vincent Boury, champion paralympique de tennis de table, et Georges Bettega, vainqueur de la Coupe du Monde de Ski Nordique 2009, sont venus soutenir les participants.
